A Midsummer Night's Dream

Hey guys!
I am part of a youth theatre group, Celsius Youth Theatre, and right now I'm working on a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare.
I'm going to be working on a couple things for this production, including designing the set, designing costumes, acting (I'm playing Bottom) and building the set and costumes. It's actually quite fun.
I get to work with my friend Kelsey (who I'm designing sets/costumes with) and my friend Daniel, who is directing the play.
Designing a play is a really interesting process. It takes a lot of thinking to get to the point where you can say that everything is figured out. In the world of a play you need to suspend your audiences belief enough that they can buy into the wonderful world that they see onstage. With A Midsummer Night's Dream, you can really push the envelope in the forest, where most of the action takes place, to create a dreamy, unrealistic space. It is, after all, the realm of the fairies, so you can make things stylized and angular and vivid.
Right now we've almost got our set design finalized (yay!). Now we need to finish all the costume design.
I'll post pictures of the set and costumes (and costume and set drawings) after the plays run is over in November.

Rambling about Helvetica

Happy are those who can post in Helvetica!

Helvetica is a font, as you may or may not already know, that is extremely popular and VERY well designed.

Helvetica was designed in 1957 for the Haas Type Foundry in Switzerland, as a replacement for fonts used in signage.

The designers of the font wanted it to be very easy to read and have no particular "character" to it so that it's uses could be varied without lending a certain "tone" or "feeling" to the text.

Helvetica's use is so widespread that it is quite astonishing. A massive number of corporations use the font in their logos. For example;

Apple,

3M,

American Airlines,

American Apparel,

BMW,

Jeep,

JC penny,

Lufthansa,

Microsoft,

Target,

Re/Max,

Toyota,

Panasonic,

Motorola,

Kawasaki and Verizon Wireless all use the font.

Even the movie ratings you see on the back of DVD's is set in Helvetica.

NASA used helvetica on the space shuttle Orbiter. The US and the Canadian Government also use helvetica.

In fact, helvetica's use is so extremely widespread that there was a documentary made about it. (Which, by the way, is excellent.)

Most road signs you will see are set in either helvetica, or a typeface based on helvetica.

And now I can type all my posts in it.

Word of the Day Wednesday #2

Hey guys!
I've been looking at one of my new favorite nerd websites, The Phrontistery, and I found that it has lists of archaic and odd words organized by letter.
YES!
As you have probably noted in my posts, I love odd and weird words and random nerdy/techy/design oriented things and this website is just going to feed the geeky frenzy that is my brain.
Anyway the "E" section of this website seemed especially interesting, since I really don't think that people use that many "E" words. Other that "exciting" and "easy". And "exciting" isn't all that interesting of a word. Whilst I was searching I found this word; esculent. It means "edible" or "fit for consumption." Doesn't it sound awesome!? I mean, it's exceedingly more fun to say than "yummy". Take this brief exchange with my mother, for example:

Mom: Here, try this cupcake!

Me: Okay. *Noms cupcake*

Mom: Soooo, how do you like it?

Me: It's most exceedingly esculent!

Mom: Why do I even bother?

Yeah, I'm a pretty weird child. I blame this video.
Anyway, I better stop talking. As some wise person once said: "Better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Hi guys!
I have been listening to CBC lately and it seems the new political buzzword is "unredacted".
I don't know about you, but it sounds like a pretty awesome word to me.
Say it out loud, "unredacted" (you know you want to.)
Isn't it awesome!?!
Anyway, I decided to look up the definition of the word.
Here is Wiktionary's definition:

Not redacted.

Wow, thanks Wiktionary, that sure helps.
So now I know that unredacted means not redacted.
I continue my search for the definition on Urban Dictionary.
Here is Urban Dictionary's definition:

unredacted
	verb: redact is more specific than edit, scarcely overlaps with censor, and is genuinely useful: mid-19th century -- essentially, a fancy or technical synonym of "edit" -- to this a more specific sense. examples are of UNREDACTED being used as a reference to blacked-out bits of text that are "classified" or "sensitive" -- effectively, as a replacement for the unpleasant participle CENSORED.

Okay, thanks Urban Dictionary, that's much better.
So I guess it means uncensored.
Hmph.
I was expecting something more dramatic, like "not life-threatening" or "unalterablenesses" (Yes, that's a word!)
Therefore I hereby decree that because of the unalterablenesses of the word "unredacted" I shall lose my train of thought and forget my point.
If I even had a point....
If I had more points this blog would be much more interesting, wouldn't it?

Valentines day Papercuts

Hey there guys!
I wanted to show you these papercuts I made for my Mom for Valentines day.
Yeah yeah, I know, it's April, almost May, but better late then never???
Yes? No?

Once again, I used these patterns designed by Cindy Ferguson, (She honestly has the BEST papercut patterns available!) and I did two in matching blue and brown paper.

I'm sorry that the pictures are so bad, I didn't glue the cutouts to the background paper so I couldn't take pictures without the glass.

Tree Climbing

Ah, I love climbing the tree in my backyard.
I've been wanting to build a tree house in the tree in my backyard for quite a while now, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Apparently there are a myriad of ways to build your tree house. You can suspend it from wires or attach it to the tree directly, you can suspend it between two trees, you can connect it to one tree and suspend it from the other. You can have it entirely independent from the tree even, but that doesn't seem like very much fun. Mostly I just want a tree house to sit and read in, nothing big, probably just a platform to sit on with a little railing. Of course I still think of building one like this. ~~Although~~ ~~not~~ that big, of course. *wink*
There is one branch I climb up to now that is almost level, so it's quite comfy to sit in. It's still not very nice to read sitting on it though. (I was Wicked up there yesterday.)

Hi there,
My friends and I decided that we were going to read Les Miserables together, and when we finished we decided to have a little party. And since we are all amazing geeks (NOT amazingly geeky, but close...) we also decided that we should Swede Les Miserables.
For those of you who haven't seen Be Kind Rewind (where the term "sweded" comes from) "Sweding" a movie/book is basically taking a movie/book and making a super campy 5 minute version of it. Youtube has TONS of sweded movies, of which the Princess Bride is my favorite. After I finished editing the footage our version weighed in at a little under 10 minutes, but for a 1400 page book I don't think it's all that bad. You should watch it now. (it has bloopers!)

Anyway, since reading Les Miserables is quite an achievment I though I would make gifts for the other people in the reading group, and I thought that I would make them each a portrait of themselves.

They turned out fantastically better than I expected, and I am quite proud of myself.
It's kind of sad though, because I only actually have one of my papercuts, all the other ones I've made have been given away as gifts.

Alice in Wonderland paper cut.

Hi guys!
I wanted to show you a paper cut that I made that I have been meaning to post about for quite a while now. *cough*

It is, of course, the tea party from Alice in Wonderland. As you can see it is cut of two separate pieces of paper and then slotted together to make a table centerpiece. (You can check out a video of it here.)
It is probably the most intricate paper cut I have tried yet, although one I recently finished (which will be in another post) comes pretty close. I really like the final look of this, it turned out better than I expected. The little holes in the center of the flowers drove me crazy, so I punched them out with a hammer punch, but other than that, everything else is cut with an X-acto blade. Also, this pattern is by Cindy from the Scherenshnitte blog, which you should go check out right now. She posts some really amazing free patterns (this one was from a book she was featured in) and she also has an awesome Etsy shop where she sells some paper cuts and really really nice prints of her work.

Vonderfull Blanket

Hello all,
I got an awesome birthday present this year.
And guess what,
It was home made!
Vanessa from Homemade Holiday Gifts made me an awesome cozy TV blanket made from recycled antique sweaters!

It's REALLY cozy and warm, and is just right to sit with a book and read.
Some of the patches and made from an old hand knit sweater with some really cool cabeling. Yay for really awesome gifts! Thanks Vanessa!

Now that I have got the whole "not posting an apology for not posting on my blog" thing done I guess I should actually post something on my blog.

I guess I could post about not apologizing for not doing NaNoWriMo this year...

I really don't want to do Nano this year. Honestly, I had NO inclination to write a novel this month. Besides not having a plot or characters, it just seemed like too much. I'm currently in rehearsals for a production of The Tempest by a local youth theatre company, Celsius Youth Theatre, and writing a novel would be crazy to do right now.
OBVIOUSLY not everyone shared my thoughts on this topic . Dorothy is over half way done her novel, and week two just started! (AND she is also in The Tempest.)
That is dedication.

I don't have anything else to say about Nano right now so I think that this post is probably pretty much dead by now.

Chalk Pastels

I started a course the other day taught by Dawn at the local Library. This week we studied Van Gogh and we used chalk pastels.
Here's a chalk pastel I did of a detail of the sky from Starry Starry Night.
It turned out quite well I think, I used handmade chalk pastels my Mom made, they were really nice!

New book!

Hey everyone, I am very, very excited.
I ordered a Photo book of my latest Macro black and white (and sepia) photography! I've titled it {diminutive}[winzig] because I think that diminutive is the word that best describes my photos.
I have been taking a lot of photos lately and because I've been so happy with they way that they have been turning out I put my very best photos into a book with quotes in a really nice 7 by 7" book. I'll post pictures of it when it arrives, I just got an email telling my it has been shipped!

3 years of blogging.

Today is the 3 year anniversary of my blog.

Wow.

Looking back at my old posts has made me cringe at times, but it shows me how much I have learned both in terms of my writing style and in the pictures I have taken.

I have always had a hard time updating my blog regularly. I usually post in "spurts" where I post consistently for maybe a month and then my posts drop off and I don't post for a long time. Then I remember that yes, I do have a blog, and I will go into another posting spurt. As I was thinking about my third year of blogging I thought that maybe I should post about the things that I have learned through the three years that I have blogged (consistently or otherwise.)

I have learned that no, it is not okay to capitalise letters in mid sentence.

I have learned how to spel mor beterer.

I have learned that you cannot use dark fonts with dark backgrounds.

I have learned that if you end a sentence with a "!" you do not end it like this "!."

I have learned that I have learned something.

I have learned that spellcheck does not fix bad grammar (I wish they had a grammar check...)

I have learned that it is perfectly acceptable to dress up like a nerd in public places as long as there is Lego somewhere in the room...

I have learned how to stage fight.

I learned I love Shakespeare.

I have learned how to Silkscreen.

I have learned that tumblewing gliders are indeed, very cool.

I discovered Threadless T-shirts. *sigh*

I explored the wild back yard for Tree Gripes, and found them. (they're scary!)

I discovered that I love macro and black and white photography.

I learned how to compose music. Slowly and painfully at times. (Mostly for anyone else in the house :)

I learned that Cirque Du Soleil is AMAZING!!!!

I have learned so many things that it would be impossible to list everything that I have learned.

And that's a good thing.

My Mom and Dad found a really cheap seat sale to Las Vegas this month and went of for a mini vacation. My brother and I stayed at home for the couple days that Mom and Dad were gone.

In Vegas Mom and Dad saw KA, a permanent show at the MGM Grand. They brought back the making of DVD, the soundtrack and a book about the show, and I am hooked.

Ka is the only Cirque show that has a story line to it and the theatre that it's performed in is, to say the least, incredible. The theatre was specifically built for Ka. From the front row seats the ceiling is seven stories up and where the stage should be is a pit four stories deep.

It's massive.

There are two stages in the theatre, the "Tatami" deck slides towards the audience from deep backstage and the main stage is 25' by 50' and rises out of the pit and can tilt forward and spin.

I am saving my pennies to go to Vegas just to see this show.

It's that good.

I think that I have one of my friends convinced to come with me, He's also a homeschooler.

I think I'm going to call the trip "Homeschoolers Rock Vegas '09"

It's been a while.
My Friend over at A Brick Short of a Load Inspired me to start posting again on this lonely blog of mine.
Recently I received a cool little camera as a gift and discovered that the super macro setting on it is INCREDIBLE.
It blew my mind.
In fact it takes better close ups and videos than my mom's huge camera. And that makes me quite happy :) I was having fun with the macro setting on my Camera when I started playing around with black and white photography and was very happy with the results.

Accordion

Yes, I do have an Accordion.
And No I do not play it.
It ways about 2 trillion tonnes and there are approximately 4 million ladybug sized buttons on the side that you are supposed to memorize and be able to play them without looking at them.
that's right, ladybug sized.

not happening.

Anyway My Grampa bought it for me about a year ago, and he drove through the mountains in B.C during a blizzard to pick it up in Vancouver.
It is a very cool accordion though, and every once in awhile I take it out and play with it, pick out a few tunes and then put it back.
this time I decided to take some pictures and show all you guys.

It's gotta be good if it has a name like Camillo.

Boxes

Today I decided that I am going to post about my boxes.
not cardboard boxes but wood boxes. (or any box that looks cool!)

every time I go on holidays I look around and try to find a really cool box to take home as a souvenir and I have come across a few very cool boxes. and here they are!.

First up we have this chest that I bought in Mexico at Loreto. I think that I bought this on the last day of holidays... it looks really good on my shelf :p

then we have puzzle box 1, I bought this one at Pike Place Market in Seattle, the Lady who makes these cuts them out of one piece of wood!, gotta have a lot of patience to cut this out... wow. here's some pictures of it being taken apart.

this is puzzle box 2. (featured in my last post) I got this one in Chinatown in San Francisco, there was a bigger box. but, of course, it was WAAAYYYYY overpriced. :( but this one is a LOT of fun to play with!. I wont show you how to take this one apart just in case you come to my house, then you'll have to figure it out by yourself :)

and this one I didn't get on holidays, actually I found it in my garage (who woulda' thunk???)
but it looks really cool so I decided to put it in this post. and next holidays, well, you'll just have to wait and see what kind of treasures I bring back.

Ten Tiny Things.

Hello there, I have been tagged by Bea at Creative Sandwich to participate in the Ten Tiny Things challenge.

here are the rules.

take ten tiny things that you like and take a picture of them all together, then (if you want) write a little bit about each object.

okay, here I go.

hmmmm.... lets start at the top left.

This little pagoda is just so darn cool, I have had it forever and it has that cool something about it that just makes you want to hold it in your hand and turn it over to look at it.
The spiky ball. how else can I describe it?. I found it under a tree when we went on holidays to San Francisco. I don't know what it is, but I like it a lot.
My puzzle box. I got this in China town in San Francisco, you can only open it if you know where to slide all the little panels hidden in the intaglio. very cool.
My little jade turtle. Mom bought this for me at the Chinese garden in Vancouver. it's one of those things that you just love!.
My tin roman soldier that Nialle gave me. he's about an inch tall and stands proudly in the display case on my wall.
A piece of Dinosaur egg shell, I had to have it!
A slice of Lapis Lazula from Afghanistan, my favorite stone!.
A small Turquoise rock. look at the color!.
A cool coin from India. it has a wavy edge that sets it apart.
And last but not least, a tiny rock with a hole in it I found on the Oregon coast. did I mention it has a hole in it???

Camp Shakespeare.

This year at Camp Shakespeare my class did a (very) abridged version of As You Like It on the Main stage of the Heritage Amphitheater in Hawrelak Park.
every year Camp Shakespeare runs during the performances of the River City Shakespeare Festival, in which the Freewill Players perform a comedy and a tragedy. the Camps work on an abridged version of the Comedy playing that year and then Perform at the end of the week on the Main stage in the amphitheater. this is the second year I have taken the camp and we had a small group of 6, so we all had really good mentoring with our teacher.

I played Orlando, the younger brother in a family with no parents and only a jealous older brother who has withheld my inheritance and conspires to have me killed in a boxing match.
of course I win the fight and then fall in love with Rosalinde.

of course the full length play has many more twists and turns and a larger cast, but we had a lot of fun putting on a small performance and getting to talk to the people who put the entire show together. we had the privilege of talking to the Assistant Stage Manager, a couple members of the cast, and the Fight Choreographer. I am looking forward to next year and I want to Audition for the Dream Team, which should be a blast!.

I am reading Oliver Twist and I thought that it was very funny that there are no V's in the book, and where there should be a V it is replaced with a W, so vicious becomes wiciuos, which is very amusing to read. I also have the V speech from V for Vendetta and I thought that it would be very funny to write it like Charles Dickens, and replace all the V's with W's. So here's what I got, and I hope you enjoy.

I also found a website that has lists of weird words, and I found out that arachibutyrophobia is the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.

now isn't that useful!.

OK, so maybe those aren't exactly the words to the song, but it suits the situation to a T.

The first line;

where has that old friend gone, well I disappeared from Blogdom for awhile,

I went to Lethbridge to play my song(in February, mind you,) and then posted once or twice and got lost, far far away from Blogdom.

tell him it wont be long till I post on my blog...

I took a little itty bit of creative liberty with the last line, but so what, I think it's a great improvement. (well maybe not great...)

so what have I been doing all this time, you must be wondering, well I have been playing lots and lots and lots of piano, writing a new song, and playing sheet music (which is abundant in our house, especially movie scores), I am also waiting impatiently for another book to arrive, and reading MAKEezine and making paper things, I'll post a picture of my semi-latest project in another post(I don't have a picture of it yet).

I am also in an online class called Modern Classics and right now I'm reading Oliver Twist, such a great and sad book!. The class is going really well and it was interesting talking to other people about what they thought about the characters in the book and why maybe they all seem so afraid of Oliver, very interesting.

silk screening

Hi, well I'm done my Silk Screening course and I must say it was very very very fun. At the course we learned the basics of silk screening and which materials are best and what to use and how to use them. We started of by cutting out stencils out of newsprint and then we worked our way on to photo emulsion. with photo emulsion what you do is basically pick and image, run it through a Xerox machine and then print it onto a piece of transparent plastic. then you coat your screen with the photo emulsion and let it dry in a dark room. after it has completely dried you place your transparency on top of the screen the way you want it to look when you print and then you place it under a bright (very very bright) light for about 7 minutes. after the time is up you quickly wash your screen under lukewarm water until all the photo emulsion that did not harden under the light is gone, leaving you with a screen with your design on it. what happens when you place your screen under the light is that the photo sensitive stuff in the emulsion hardens, except for where the light cant get through (AKA, the black areas on your transparency.) the image that I picked for my image was a picture that I took in Mexico of the mission in the town we stayed in, and here's a picture of the final project.

this print is on paper, but I did most of mine on fabric.
well I had a lot of fun with this class and I hope that Lee teaches another class again,

fun with kirigami

Well I've been having lots of fun with Kirigami, it's just so interesting to look at and the end result is just so great!. I made a really cool kirigami sphere, it's a sphere that is made of a whole bunch of pieces of paper that slide into each other to form the sphere shape, and another really cool thing about it is that it folds down flat, really really fun. but I don't have any pictures of it, I'll take some and post them later. I also made a card for Aunty Karyn but I wont post any photos until she gets it so that I wont spoil it for her. : )
Well our other computer crashed and we might have lost all our data, which really sucks since we haven't backed up any photos for so long, yikes, I don't even want to think about it. Well we try to get that up and running I'll see if I can load Mom's camera software onto this computer so I can upload some pictures.
I guess the moral of the story is ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR PHOTOS.
now go and back up all your photos and anything else that you can think of backing up.
I mean it.

Kirigami

Hi there, I just found the world of Kirigami, and it looks very, very cool. Kirigami is the art of folding paper and cutting it, unlike Origami, which frowns down upon those who would dare to cut their paper. you've probably done Kirigami before, you know those paper snowflakes that you cut out of folded paper?, that is a variation of Kirigami. I decided that I better try it, it looks so cool once it's finished, so since it was my friends birthday, I thought it would make a really cool birthday card. here's some pictures.

basically I'm making pop-up cards, and it wasn't all that hard to make either, the hardest part was the cutting out since my printer only printed out half the lines of the pattern ( yes, I know, I did use a pattern, and here's the link to the site I got the pattern off of.)
so if you make some Kirigami models, post a link in the comments to the post and I'll have a look at it, cant wait to see what you guys will do!.

Tumblewing gliders.

Hello everyone, I've been looking at this amazing site, instructables.com , and I found this how to for the tumble wing walk-along glider. I know it's a mouthful, but it's very, very cool. If you don't know what a tumble wing glider is, it's a piece of paper that's folded so that when you drop it from above your head, it spins forward rapidly while it descends. but, if you drop it from above your head, and then hold a large piece of cardboard or Styrofoam at about 15 to 20 degrees from vertical slightly below it and walk along, it will slowly move forward, supported on the cushion of air that is being directed upward by the board as you walk along. Hence the name: walk-along glider. Now, a true walk along glider looks something like a boomerang, and all you have to do is hold you hands underneath it and walk, or run, just moving your hands to steer it. Here's the link on a how to to make the easy to learn walk-along glider.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the page you'll see that there are a couple pictures of some other instructables that this guy has made, along with a walk along glider he made out of a dead Monarch Butterfly. Kind of weird but very cool.
Well now you go and try it, all you need is an old phone book, some scissors, some cardboard and your on your way.

Hey there everyone, I just got back from our FLL competition, and boy was it an experience. We were competing against 40 teams from across Alberta and ended up in the top ten, we placed in 9th to be exact. We even won an award for our presentation on environmental technology and our research on energy efficiency. The other teams that were there were also amazing and very friendly, as were all the volunteers and judges, coaches, and the MC. I'm really pumped about how we did and we all got a lot of comments on our costumes and one of the judges for our presentation even said that Dilbert would be proud.

well today is our last day before the competition and were going to be working on getting all our programs in working order, so that we know which programs to use when. knowing that all the other teams have probably been doing this for about a month or so is kind of worrying, but it's going to be a lot of fun and we'll be able to go out in public dressed as geeks.
if you guys cant come to the competition you can still watch us ( and all the other teams) compete, because the head honcho people at the Lego competition have set up a live web cam set up for tomorrow starting at 11:45 AM. here's the link

First Lego League

First Lego League, that's the competition I'm in for Lego. we've Been building and programing Lego Mindstorms robots for an international competition on the 26th of January and right now it's crunch time, that's why I haven't been posting for so long, I've been at the Lepines house almost every third day for about two months and were really making headway now. the theme for the First Lego League this year is Environmental awareness and each team has to build and design a robot that will do certain tasks on a table which has Lego models on it, such as a house and a satellite, an off shore oil rig, and a power plant. we (as a team) have to build a robot that will do various tasks on the table and we also have to make a presentation to a panel of judges. for our presentation we had to pick a local building that the entire team is familiar with and then we had to do an energy audit and brainstorm ways to help improve the energy efficiency of the building, and the fun part is that our "recommendations" do NOT have to be feasible and they do not even have use existing technology, so we all whipped up some crazy new (and not so new) technology that we researched and then we put together our presentation. but right now our presentation is about 15 minutes long, where as it should be about 5 minutes or less.

yikes.

well all is not lost, we have got all our programing done (with just a few loose ends) and we have figured out our team costume. now every year teams have been dressing up in crazy costumes with big hair to make them stand out from the crowd, and well, we're really gonna show them now.

we are dressing up like geeks and nerds.

yes, you heard me, geeks and nerds. we are going to wear white dress shirts, plaid pants that are to small, slicked back hair, glasses that are all taped up, ( mine have green masking tape, how delightfully nerdy!) pocket protectors (if we can find any) and last but definitely not the least, Duct tape ties. we have green duct tape ties, black duct tape ties, red duct tape ties, and I am, just to add to the ultra geeky look that I'm going for, going to have a Dilbert tie.

now, if you've never read the Dilbert comics you will not know what I'm talking about. A Dilbert tie is a tie that sticks up, instead of laying down flat like a good tie should. mine is also made of good ol' silver duct tape.

so watch out you other Lego League Members, for the Envirobot Geeks are coming your way.

talking to my computer.

No, I am not crazy, I'm just having soo much fun with our MacBook. today when I was looking for a way to record an audio track with the built in microphone, I stumbled across the voice recognition software in the computer. all I have to do is push the special key on the keyboard and talk to the computer in "a normal voice" and it will do various so called "tasks". I can ask it what time it is and it will tell me in a voice that I pick off a menu, (you can pick voices with names like"hysterical" or "bad news" ,"good news" or just plane old Fred. how boring.) you can also ask it to open up your web browser or you can ask it to open up your current window in a sticky note, you can even ask it to tell you a joke. here's an example:

Me: "tell me a joke"

Computer: "Knock knock"

Me: who's there? (can you hear the question in my voice?, isn't it so exciting!!!)

Computer: "Orange"

Me: "Orange who?"

Computer: " Orange you glad you bought a Mac OS10!!!"

wasn't that exciting!!!, the suspenseful questions, the quick reply, and finally the witty climax. oh the glory of it all!. I cant wait until I can tell it to make me breakfast, that 'twill be the day, yes, it 'twill be the day.

now I will go and continue my nerdy exploits, ignoring all others as I delve deep into cyberspace. ( just kidding, I still need to find that darn recording software, I know it's hiding in there somewhere)

Here's the pictures of some of the beautiful gifts that we left on the doorsteps of our ( I'm sure) grateful fellow neighbors. here we go,

here's Levi opening up the gifts that we will be re-gifting to our "happy" neighbors,

then we opened this incredibly amazing enamel frog picture frame!!!!, holy tacky picture frame batman!!!,

and here is a picture of all the gifts in their full glory, untainted by sticky fingers or cold outdoor weather, yet. we left most of these items on the doorsteps of many a-now-happy-person-who-lives-on-our-block.
she also gave us this brand-spankin-new cassette player, made of solid steel and weighing in at about 2.3 tons. it features TV quality sound!!!, now that's quality, no kidding, maybe.
and last but not least, Levi with one of the four figurines that grandma sent us, can you see the ecstatic excitement on his face?, the joy, the wonder, of this deeply moving piece of artistry?, it's THE Christmas gift that every boy has ever wished for since that Chinese guy threw himself into his own furnace of pottery creating a new kind of pottery that has no equal anywhere else in the world. (isn't it funny that the fore-mentioned Chinese guy's apprentices actually used the baked china that he "dismissed" himself in, and discovered that the addition of bones to the clay actually made good pottery???. who woulda thunk.)

well now go and pixie you neighbors with tacky( or not so tacky) paraphernalia of all sorts. and always remember, they're is no such object that is so tacky that it cannot be pixied to someone.

tonight we went pixieing. pixieing is the act of randomly picking houses in (or around) your neighborhood ( or anywhere for that matter,) to leave "gifts" at. tonight we went around our block with a boxful of goodies, and left them at all the houses we could get to without setting off the motion light sensors. so far we have left two Beautiful deer, a couple of intertwined geese, about 3 ties, 2 perfume bottles, some incredibly amazing picture frames,( AKA, some enamel frogs peeping over the backs of some gaudy gold frames) a red enamel egg thing that's on three legs and opens up to reveal a secret empty space thing to hide minuscule tangible objects of GREAT value!!!. ( I think it's from Dollorama, but don't tell anyone I said so) we also set out two plastic bowls ( also from Dollorama) and a set of measuring spoons. and all these treasures were donated by my amazing grandma. she bought us all of these treasures for Christmas( OK, yes, we opened them a little early, sue me.) and we decided that the best thing to do was to spread the joy and make sure no one ever found out who gave them those BEAUTIFUL, ( hack, hack,) ummm.... for lack of a better word, things, that they found on their doorstep that fateful morning in December.. I can just imagine the neighbors faces when they wake up in the morning ready to go to work and face the day, opening up their doors, stepping outside, and then seeing these things on their doorstep. ( did I mention that we also left the worlds ugliest little Indian figurine on a doorstep?, it was quite the thing to behold. ) I will try to post pictures of some of the "treasures" that we pixied away, and then you will be sooooo jealous that YOU don't live in our neighborhood. well I better go now, their are SOOOO many houses, and they just wont pixie themselves.

Hi there, I've been really busy lately so I haven't had a chance to blog for awhile, but I just HAD to blog about this. we opened up a bottle of cranberry juice the other day ( the big no-name kind of jug) and it's been sitting on our counter for the last two days or so and tonight I went to have some and on the label in fine print* it read: IMPORTANT: PRODUCT MUST BE REFRIGERATED AFTER OPENING. Okay, Fine with me. but in smaller print underneath fore-mentioned statement it says:

Do not store opened container
at room temperature
as pressure build-up may occur,
causing possible injury.

possible injury???!!!, who knew that the cranberry juice in your fridge could be potentially harmful to your health and your sanity.
picture this,
your sitting in the doctors office getting a piece of plastic removed from your body and the doctor asks you how it got there.
you give him this explanation: "I forgot to put my cranberry juice in the fridge and it tried to kill me by blowing itself up in my face"
the doctor looks at you funny and asks you what your name is.
Josh T-----k** you answer.
oh, he says. He's silent for a minute or two, then says
"have you ever been diagnosed with any mental illness in the past?"
no, why?, you ask. wondering why he would ask such a silly question.
oh, nothing. he says as he yanks a piece of plastic out of your abdomen with a pair of needle nose pliers. "I got these" he says, snapping the pliers in front of your face, " at Michael's on sale for 40% off, great deal Eh?
you gulp.
half an hour and twenty stitches later you are let out of the hospital with a sore tummy and an appointment to a psychiatrist.
why would he ever give you a appointment to a psychiatrist?, you ponder this as you walk down the sidewalk into a setting sun. happy that the evil cranberry juice had lost the battle and that you got a free sucker from the lady at the front desk of the doctors office.

sheesh, it makes you wonder what else is in your kitchen that could be "potentially harmful"
anyway I guess I better go and get to bed, I have to go to a psychiatrist in the morning and she wants my complete medical history on hand.
some people are so odd.

NaNoWrimo

well I joined NaNoWrimo and I have started writing my novel. my word count so far is 3021 and I just finished another paragraph that has not been counted in.
anyway,
my story is about a rabbit ( but I think I might change him to another animal. and don't ask me why three of my four characters are animals. the other one being a chimera. they just are.)
who is on a quest to get the Golden Latte for a chimera who has promised him (my main character) an apple of Iduna. if you Google Iduna it'll probably give you some history on her.
so in order to get the Golden Latte, he has to get the Platinum Pound Cake. because the Golden Latte was hidden by an evil king and the location of the Golden Latte is engraved on the bottom of the cake.
that basically sums up the plot.
it'll develop more as I write.

NaNoWrimo is a novel writing um... ahh.. thing? where you write a novel in one month. the novel has to be 50,000 words long and 175 pages. anyone can join and if your 12 or under there's a youth writing competition for a 2500 word novel. otherwise your screwed to 50,000. anyway, the deadline for joining is October 30 at 11:59 o'clock. you can outline your novel but your not allowed to start writing it until November 1st and it can be about anything,

we got a mac!

Hello everyone, we got a Macbook!, it's really really nice too, mom and dad went to bestbuy to get us (Levi and I) a new computer ( because ours keeps spontaneously shutting down, due to "thermal errors") and they decided to buy a Macbook because we've always wanted a laptop.
so now I get to learn how to use a Mac and I get to teach Mom and Dad how to use it to...

I saw the weirdest thing in Sobey's the other day, we were walking down the ice cream isle and Mom stopped to look at something and while I was waiting for her I saw a package of ice cream with a picture of a dog on it, having nothing else to do at the moment I read the package, and it said "frozen treats for dogs". FROZEN TREATS FOR DOGS!!!!, that's crazy!, insane and just plain weird!. who would buy there DOG a Popsicle! . some people are a little scary about their pets, just a Little....

Hello. Yes, I know I haven't posted for about a billion years. but I'll try to start posting again. well I have been playing piano all this time and I just got Invited to play at an upcoming festival and *maybe* have a string quartet and a children's choir accompany me. and CBC radio might record the concert! so I am writing a song that's been in my head for awhile to perform, and I'm really really really R E A L L Y excited!. I am also in an online course called Before Tolkien, basically we read about half a book every week and then have a colloquium about the book. me readings so far have been: The Children of Odin, The Odyssey, and The Iliad.
well I don't know what to say so I guess this is the end of my first post in a billion years...

I did this friendship book for Dawn Supina, I just got it today, and I really like it. it reads,
"it's good to be friends with HRH the CEO".Mrs Supina is the "creator" of our Art group, the Pointy Hat Art Posse, and her title is, HRH the CEO(creative ecentric one.).
